2. Write a 3/4 page response that describes the types of essays you have written. Think of this as a resume in which you list your experience with each essay you remember writing. You must describe:
How well you think you did or the grades you received.
The process which includes how hard you worked, how long it took, how many drafts you had, the length of the essay, who proofread your essay? What was the topic?
Then tell me how you felt during that time. Did it feel good to work hard? Were you stressed out? Stuff like that.
If you claim that you have never written an essay, then tell me how you would go about writing one and what you think it would be like? Would you be able to handle the challenge?

3. Learn how to make a page on your blog. Make a page titled "Playwrights".
(I'll give you a hint: in the "edit posts" section there is an "edit page" link)
On that page you MUST post a DETAILED summary of today's playwrights class.

Classwork (Homework 3/4/11)

Reread La Relacion, popcorn style, as a class. (Collaborate! I know you can do it)

Then, think of a memory that stands out in your mind vividly; a memory that perhaps involved your inner strength to overcome that event. (since the explorers clearly had to do that to get by)

Your assignment is to TYPE (not hand write) a mini narrative using at least 10 sensory details about the memory mentioned above.
  • You need to use two details for each sense.
  • You need to italicize each of them.
  • You must give your memory a title.
  • Assignment must be at least one page double-spaced, 12pt font, Times New Roman.
BEFORE YOU BEGIN WRITING!!!! YOU MUST MAKE A LIST OF THINGS YOU REMEMBER. THESE COULD BE PEOPLE, THINGS, EVENTS, A STEP BY STEP LIST OF WHAT HAPPENED.

Title it "Brainstorm" and STAPLE IT TO THE BACK OF YOUR TYPED WRITING ASSIGNMENT.

  • If you had been Olaudah Equiano, do you think you would have survived or what do you think would have been your fate?

Answer questions 1, comprehension check, 3, and 5 using the bullets below

Read the literary analysis section on page 78 and make a 6 slide PowerPoint that would help to teach or reinforce the importance of audience and diction. Use some of the information in this section to show (a hypothetical stranger) that diction and audience do matter. You may use "La Relacion" as an example.

Another way to look at it: pretend that you are the one that wrote this stuff, but you decided to do it as a powerpoint and you are trying to teach your audience that diction and audience is important to writing a work.
