1. Revolution: complete change from one constitution to another.
Revolution: a complete turn of a wheel or engine part; used as a unit for measuring the speed of an engine.

However, I would liket to say to LT that #5 is impressive. Did you get help with that or did it all come out of your pretty little head?
I also think that your examples could be stronger. If you review your notes, you may get a better understanding of what might be a better example. I say this 'cuz I don't really see the parallelism in your example and becuase it seesm that your logical appeal is more ethical and your rhetorical question is one that CAN/SHOULD be answered and elaborated on. A Rhetorical Questions should make the audience say "DUH!". It's like if I asked you, "Would you rather be a slave or be free?". I don't really need/expect an answer since I'm pretty sure you'll say you want to be free. :)
Thanks for doing your work.

1) The definitions of revolution are: 1. an orbital motion about a point, especially as distinguished from axial rotation. 2. the overthrow of one government and its replacement with another. 3. a sudden or momentous change in a situation. 4. a complete change in ways of thinking, working, etc.

2) The relationship between a car engine revolution and "regular revolution" is that in a car engine revolution, when you put the key in the engine, the pistons start turning and rotating. In a regular revolution, like in the government, there is a complete turnover. There are changes in the government.

5) The importance of Rhetorical Devices are that they help us to be effective writers, they are a way or format to writing essays, and they just make papers interesting.

7) a.What's an American?: Americans are immigrants. They came here to the Americas to have a better living and have a new life. Many of them are poor.
b. Speech in Virginia Convention: The speech states the reasons why we should go to war with Great Britain.
c. MLK & Malcom X speeches: MLK says that the opressed deals with oppression in three ways. They resign themselves to their doom or just give in, they use violence, and/or they use nonviolent resistance.
d. The Declaration of Independence: The Colonial Americans believed that the only way to the solution, to the conflict between them and Britain, was to break away from British rule. Then the colonies declared independence from Great Britian.
e. Lesson 8 Packet: The American colonists didn't believe in the British government and their polocies. That led to the Declaration of Independence.

8) The most important thing that I learned in the last month was the Rhetorical Devices. I also liked the texts and speeches that we read in class. The devices are important because they would help me in my writing and that is what I really need help in. Some of the packets were interesting to read and learned a lot from them. The speech and the Declaration of Independence were hard, but I learned more from them.

10) Emotional Appeal- We need to save the otters because they are dying from the oil spills.
Loaded Language- The famished, malnourished baby became very ill.
Repetition- I want to go to the park. I want to have fun. I want to get out of here!
Logical Appeal- We all need to go to school to get an education.

What are the multiple definitions of revolution? A complete change in the ways of thinking and a time of great usually sudden, social and political change especially in a change of the ruler.
What is the relationship between a car engine revolution and a regular revolution? The relationship between car engine is that a car engine revolution keeps rotating by the pistons also its is needed to function and how things dont work so you have to keep moving.
What is the importance of rhetorical devices? the importance of the rhetorical devices is that they help exspand our writing.
What it means to be an American
It shows us how people were faithful to America and how people looked at America.
Speech in Virgina Convention
Was how the goverment tried to do things and patrick henery wanted them to fight to get there rights.
MLK and Malcolm X speeches
Martin Luther King was aginst viloence and he thought we could do things different and Malcolm X was telling us that he thinks that we should protect ourselves and how its good we are critics to eachother.
Declartion of Independence
This document is about what rights the colonist wanted.
Lesson 8 packet
That the colonist wanted to free themselves from Britian and how they raised awareness about the issues.
The most important thing youve learned is the rhetorical devices because they teach us what can persuade people angd to build writing skills.
Give an example of at least 4 devices? emotional appeal: what would your family think about this.
Repetition: believe, believe and believe. Parrellasim : he loved watermelon but he stayed grapefruit.
Loaded language: i like you, i adore you.
Explain why Ms. Ramirez decide to teach teach rhetorical devices and the text she choose? i feel like it was taught because she wanted to exspand our mind about things.

Kristana: The first part of the Car Engine and other revolution question is pretty good, but at the end the explanation gets confusing. Be careful with how you phrase things. MAKE SURE TO READ BACK WHAT YOU WRITE.
For your summary of "What it means to be an American" Please try to include the time period, because that is important. The way people looked at America then is very different then how they look at it now. Your parallelism example still needs help. Review your notes and pay close attention to the fact that it's a type of repetition in the structure of a sentence. And you are right that I want to expand your mind about things, but what type of things exactly?
Thanks for following through with your hwk.

Belinda: You neglected to discuss Malcolm X's speech. Make sure that you are familiar with it. Your question #8 is weak sauce. You say you learned a lot, but you don't actually say WHAT you learned. Don't beat around the bush. Get to the point effectively, that's what rhetoric can do. :)

1: Revolving or turing round on an axis or a center; the motion of a body round a fixed point or line; rotation.

2: Car revolution is when the engine turns over and revoulution is rotation on the earth axis. The similarties is that they both revovle and starts.

5: The realationship between rhetoric and eloquence is that they both have a mannerable way of oppinion or insight on something in an educated way.

I wrote my answers down yesterday but I didn't do it until late because I was working on my playwrights and other computer work.

1. Revolution-used for measuring the speed of an engine.
Revolution- complete change from a constitution to another.

2.You need a car engine to work because if it doesn't the care wont turn on.

5.I think that the importance of the devices is so that we know the difference between words and how they are used.

7. What it means to be an American? Meaning that people can come here if they want to start a new life and have a fresh start.
b)
c) MLK- he didnt believe that violence was the answer to everything and that men should be careful of what they do.
d) Malcom X was completely different he believe that having war would solve some of the situations that did occur. Him and MLK disagreed a lot about what they liked and disliked.
- Declaration of Independence- Americans want their independence and want to be able to do what they want to do.
8] I think that the most important thing that i learned in the last month is reading about MLK and Malcom X. It taught me a lot abut their differences and how much they actually disagreed with things. It also taught me how to think in perspective.
