In addition to the district-wide Academic Vocabulary, students are assigned four weekly vocabulary words that derive from Latin and Greek Roots.
Common Vocabulary Assignments
1. Note Cards:
a.) Use four index cards.
b.)Write: word, part of speech, definition, and a sentence.
2. Foldable
a.) Fold an 8.5 x 11 sheet vertically (hot dog), horizontally (hamburger) and then fold it once more to create 8 rectangles.
b.) Write the vocab words on the front (booklet style)
c.) Write the definitions and part of speech on the left inside and a sentence on the right inside.
3. Vocab Pictures + Sentences:

3. Vocab Pictures + Sentences:
a.)Using the internet, Google pictures that represent the definitions of words
b.)On a Word document, paste the pictures that you found AND explain why you chose the picture.
c.) Then, write a sentence for each word.
3. PowerPoint:
a.)Create a PowerPoint that includes the following:
- 4 Words AND ROOT, definitions, parts of speech, sentences and pictures
- At least 3 bullets of information (paraphrased from the explanatory paragraph on vocab sheet)for each word.
- A TOTAL of 10 slides [cover+ root+ 4 words+ 4 explanatory slides]
