Homework 3/14/11

Period 1
1. Bring in week 11-15 note cards to get them checked off
2. SHOW UP ON TIME FOR THE EAP (so you can have enough time to plan and write your timed essay)
3. Work on your Project Proposal OR the news article project (remember that you can do it on "La Relacion" or Equiano's narrative.

Period 3
Fill out the who, what, where worksheet for Equiano's narrative. Then, cut out the squares and lay them out on the blue paper.

Period 1
Type a 1/2 page explaining if you have ever felt like Equiano does in his narrative. Especially consider the italics at the beginning of the narrative.

Period 3
a.) Reread Olaudah Equiano and take notes on the whole packet. It should be 1 page front and back.
b.) On a separate sheet of paper, answer the following questions:
1. Who is involved in the Narrative? Name the main characters.
2. What happens in the Narrative?
3. When does this narrative take place?
4. How long do you think that Equiano is slave?
5. Where does the Narrative take place? (There may be several locations)
6. Why do you think that the narrative is written?
7. Do you think that what happens in the narrative good or bad? Explain your answer.

Classwork (Homework 3/4/11)

Period 1
Reread La Relacion, popcorn style, as a class. (Collaborate! I know you can do it)

Then, think of a memory that stands out in your mind vividly; a memory that perhaps involved your inner strength to overcome that event. (since the explorers clearly had to do that to get by)

Your assignment is to TYPE (not hand write) a mini narrative using at least 10 sensory details about the memory mentioned above.
  • You need to use two details for each sense.
  • You need to italicize each of them.
  • You must give your memory a title.
  • Assignment must be at least one page double-spaced, 12pt font, Times New Roman.
BEFORE YOU BEGIN WRITING!!!! YOU MUST MAKE A LIST OF THINGS YOU REMEMBER. THESE COULD BE PEOPLE, THINGS, EVENTS, A STEP BY STEP LIST OF WHAT HAPPENED.

Title it "Brainstorm" and STAPLE IT TO THE BACK OF YOUR TYPED WRITING ASSIGNMENT.

Type a 1 page, double spaced, 12 pt font, Times New Roman class essay telling me the following.
  • If you had been Olaudah Equiano, do you think you would have survived or what do you think would have been your fate?
  • Have you ever felt like you have been a slave or experienced things that are similar to the ones that he describes? If so, how did that feel?
  • If not, explain what you think it must feel like and why do you think you would feel that way?
